CLEVELAND STATE MATCH NOTES

QUICK SETS
The Cleveland State volleyball team will begin a four-match roadswing this weekend, making its annual trip to the state of Wisconsin. The Vikings will face Green Bay on Friday, October 25 and Milwaukee on Saturday, October 26.

DeGEORGE NOTCHES 1,000th CAREER DIG
After posting a team-high 20 digs against Youngstown State last Friday, junior Emily DeGeorge recorded the 1,000th dig of her career, ending the weekend with 1,013 total digs. DeGeorge, who became the 20th Viking all-time to reach the 1,000-dig plateau, is averaging 3.30 digs per set this season, and has recorded 20+ digs during three matches.

…CLOSING IN ON CSU CAREER DIGS LIST
Entering this weekend's roadtrip to Green Bay & Milwaukee, Emily DeGeorge is just shy of earning a spot on the top-10 list in the CSU Career Record Book with her 1,013 total digs. DeGeorge, who needs 94 more digs to crack the top-10, would become the second active Viking to rank in the top-10 in the CSU Career Record Book.

HALL & GREENE ON THE ATTACK
So far this season, the majority of Cleveland State's offense has run through the middle hitter duo of Trinniti Hall and Hannah Greene, as they are responsible for 485 total kills -  52-percent of the CSU offense. Hall has a team-best 253 kills this year, while Greene enters the weekend with 232 total kills. Hall (4th - 3.33) and Greene (5th - 3.05) both rank in the top-five among league players in kills per set, while Greene also ranks sixth with a .285 hitting percentage on the year.

GRECOL ON THE CSU CAREER ASSIST TOP-10 LIST
Sophomore Christina Grecol eclipsed the 1,800-assist mark for her career after combining for 71 helpers last weekend, entering Friday's match at Green Bay with 1,810 career assists. Grecol currently ranks ninth in the CSU Career Record Book, and needs 132 more helpers to move into eighth place on the list. Grecol, who ranks second among league players averaging 9.59 assists per set this season, is one of just nine Vikings all-time to reach 1,800 career assists.

PORTIS RETURNS TO THE VIKING LINEUP
After missing the last four matches due to injury, sophomore London Portis returned to the Viking lineup against Youngstown State and Oakland, combining for 16 total kills and eight total blocks. Against Oakland, Portis recorded a career-high 12 kills, marking just her second double-digit kill performance of the season (11 kills vs. FGCU).

PENFIELD MAKES COLLEGIATE DEBUT
Freshman Chelsea Penfield made her collegiate debut against Oakland last time out, recording two kills and eight total blocks. Penfield earned a spot as one of Cleveland State's middle hitters after the Vikings made a change to their lineup prior to the Oakland contest. Penfield's eight total blocks helped Cleveland State record 11 total blocks as a team - the 10th time this season that the Vikings have posted 10+ blocks.

TOUT LEADING THE VIKING DEFENSE
Entering this weekend's matches, Cleveland State ranks third in the #HLVB standings averaging 17.63 digs per set as a team, led by libero Lindsey Tout who ranks sixth individually with a 4.39 digs per set average. Tout is joined on the backline by junior Emily DeGeorge (3.30 dps) and freshman Audrey McConihe (2.51 dps), along with Julia Piccolino (1.80 dps) and Halle Schoen (1.54 dps).

HEAD COACH CHUCK VOSS
Chuck Voss is in his 20th season at the helm of the Vikings, and owns a 359-229 (.610) overall record at Cleveland State. Under Voss the Vikings have recorded 16 winning seasons, including 10 straight entering the 2019 season. Cleveland State has eclipsed the 20-win mark eight times since Voss took over the program, and has captured Horizon League Tournament titles five times (2007, 2012, 2015, 2016 & 2017) under his guidance. During the 2016 season Voss became the all-time winningest coach in program history, and then last season became the only active Horizon League coach to reach the 350-win mark at their current school.

UP NEXT
The Vikings will stay on the road to begin the month of November, traveling to Youngstown State (Friday, November 1) and Oakland (Saturday, November 2).
