Myles Tyler

Myles Tyler

Myles Tyler will begin his third season with the Cleveland State track and field team, serving as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the 2019 season.

Over the last two years, Tyler has served as the sprints coach for Cleveland State, coaching four Vikings to podium finishes at the Horizon League Outdoor Championships last season. For the upcoming campaign, Tyler will also serve as the relays coach, after helping Cleveland State’s 4x100 Relay place third at the 2018 Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championship.

Under Tyler’s direction, the Vikings set program records in sprint events during every meet last season, while multiple Vikings set personal-records in numerous events.

Tyler is also responsible for coordinating the track and field team’s community service efforts, and designing and implementing practice plans.

Prior to joining the track and field staff, Tyler spent three years serving as an intern for former Cleveland State Athletic Director John Parry, learning the daily operations of a collegiate athletic department. During his time in the Cleveland State Athletic Department, Tyler was able to gain insight into NCAA rules and regulations – specifically those that involve the sport of track and field.

Tyler, who spent his freshman year at Kent State University, competed in sprint events for the Golden Flashes before transferring to Cleveland State where he graduated with a sport management major.
