Brandt Leads Vikings At Silverston Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Cleveland State track and field team had its final tune-up before the Horizon League Indoor Championship Friday, as five Vikings competed at the Silverston Invitational hosted by the University of Michigan.

Anna Brandt recorded Cleveland State's top finish on the day, placing third in the Mile Run with a time of 4:57.77. Brandt's time marked a personal-best, while it also marks a program record over the last four seasons. 

Hannah Korte and Margaret Smith also participated in distance events for the Vikings, Korte placing fourth in the 3000 Meter Run (10:34.36) and Smith placing 12th in the 800 Meter Run (2:21.55).

Dynesty Ervin and Monica Johnson represented Cleveland State in a trio of sprint events on the day, running in the 60 Meter Hurdle prelims, 200 Meter Dash and 400 Meter Dash. Johnson posted a time of 8.99 in the 60 Meter Hurdle prelims, while Ervin finished seventh in the 200 Meter Dash (26.35) and 15th in the 400 Meter Dash (1:01.68).

The Vikings will return to action at the Horizon League Indoor Championship next weekend, traveling to Youngstown State for the two-day event on Saturday, February 29 and Sunday, March 1.
