INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After picking up a win at the top of the doubles lineup last weekend, the Cleveland State duo of Klara Mrcela and Miruna Vasilescu has been named the Horizon League Doubles Team of the Week. This marks the first weekly honor for the Vikings this season. 

"This is a well deserved honor for Klara and Miruna, they really led the team last week in helping us pick up the doubles point," head coach Frank Polito said. "Although this was their first time playing together, you can tell that they had some great chemistry on the court and I'm excited to watch them progress as the season continues." 

Last weekend, Mrcela and Vasilescu picked up a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles against Miami (OH), helping the Vikings pick up the doubles point for the first time this season. 

The match against the Redhawks marked the first time that Mrcela and Vasilescu were playing as a doubles team.

Through the first two matches this year, Vasilescu has been a mainstay at the top of the doubles lineup, and owns a perfect 2-0 doubles record on her Cleveland State career.
