CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State women's tennis team will continue its fall slate this weekend, hosting the fourth annual Viking Invitational. The three-day tournament, which will run from Friday, October 4 through Sunday, October 6, will take place in the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion on the Cleveland State University campus.

Cleveland State will welcome three other teams to the MMTP for the Viking Invitational this weekend, as Akron, Xavier and UConn will compete in the three-day tournament.

2019 Viking Invitational Scoring
At the conclusion of play this weekend, there will be a Viking Invitational Singles Champion and a Viking Invitational Doubles Champion. Points will be awarded based on lineup position, with the singles player and doubles team with the most points after three days of play crowned champions.

Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion
The Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion is Cleveland State's on-campus indoor facility, which features six temperature controlled courts and spectator seating for 200 fans. Construction of the MMTP was completed during the spring of 2016, with the first match being held on March 9, 2016. 2019 Fall Campaign
This will mark the second of four tournaments for the Vikings this fall, with Cleveland State also set to compete at the Akron Shootout (Oct. 25-27) and UB Fall Invite (Nov. 1-3).

The Vikings
Cleveland State returns seven letterwinners for the 2019-20 season, including the senior trio of Kateryna Avram, Blanche Lenoan and Siân Payne. This group will be joined by juniors Klara Mrcela and Gaby Schoenberg, sophomores Lauren Longo and Lara Prosenjak and freshman Prinkle Singh. Last season, Cleveland State earned its fourth Horizon League Regular Season co-championship and made its fourth appearance in the #HLWTEN Tournament championship match.

Head Coach Frank Polito
The Vikings will be under the direction of second-year head coach Frank Polito, who led the Vikings to a 16-9 dual match record last season, marking one of their best records in recent years. Overall, this will be Polito's eighth year at Cleveland State after also serving as an associate head coach for the men's and women's programs.
