Vikings Selected Fourth In #HLWTEN Preseason Poll

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The 2019 Horizon League Preseason Women's Tennis Poll was released Tuesday afternoon (January 15), with Cleveland State tabbed to finish fourth in the competitive 10-team league.

This marks the seventh year that the Horizon League has released a Preseason Tennis Poll, with the Vikings earning a top-four selection in all seven polls.

The preseason poll is voted on by each head coach.

Cleveland State returns three letterwinners from last year's team that advanced to the semifinals of the Horizon League Tournament for the ninth straight season, including three-time Horizon League honoree Isabella Spindler. This group was joined by three transfers and two freshmen during the fall season, and will be under the direction of first year head coach Frank Polito.

Polito, who is in his seventh season with the Vikings, was named the women's head coach last July, and has been part of two Horizon League Regular Season titles with the Vikings, and has led Cleveland State to a top-three finish in the league standings every season.

The Vikings will begin their spring slate next weekend, hosting St. Bonaventure in the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion on Sunday, January 27.
