Cleveland, OH-Cleveland State Head Softball Coach Amy Kyler announced the addition of six student-athletes that comprise the program's 2022-23 recruiting class.
All of the student-athletes come from the state of Ohio, and they join a program coming off of one of its best seasons ever last year. The Vikings finished 18-8 in conference play, which is the most wins in conference since 2010.
"We are so excited to have this talented group join our Viking family," Kyler said of the class, "We believe their work ethic, attitudes and talent will enhance the program and keep it moving in the direction we are working towards."

Madison Clauss – 5'4" Bats Left/Throws Right, Sugar Grove, OH(Fairfield Christian Academy)
-Batted .603 with 26 stolen bases and a .648 on base percentage last season
-Named first team all-Mid State League and first team all-district last season
-Named all-Ohio Academic the last two years
-Currently holds a 3.97 GPA and National Honor Society member
Kylie Gorusch – 5'8" R/R, North Canton, OH(Green HS)
-Batted .409 with 5 HR/17 RBI in 2022
-First team all-Federal League two years in a row
-Federal League Defensive Player of the year in 2022
-Four year scholar athlete
Kathryn McDonald- 6'2" R/R, Poland, OH(Poland Seminary HS)
-3 sport athlete- Softball, Basketball and Volleyball
-Had 21 RBI and a .554 Slugging Percentage in 2021-22
-On the mound in 2021-2022 she had 20 wins and 6 losses
-Spring 2022 Awards: 1st Team Northeast 8 Conference, 1st Team All Northeast Ohio, All State Honorable Mention
Marley Queen – 5'5" R/R, Tallmadge, OH(Tallmadge HS)
-Batted .391 with 5 HR/18 RBI in 2022
-First team all-Suburban League and Honorable Mention All-Northeast Ohio last year
-Team USA Softball HPP Team Member
-National Honor Society Officer
Kayla Vallee – 5'4" R/R, Brooklyn Heights, OH(Cuyahoga Heights, OH)
-Batted .554 with 25 RBI in 2022
-First Team all-Chagrin Valley Conference in 2022
-First Team all-District in 2021
-Named to Academic Honor Roll all four years
Reese Shanahan – 5'7" R/R, Freemont, OH(Freemont Ross HS)
-Named Defensive MVP in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference in 2021
-Named second team all-TRAC in 2021
-Two year varsity letter winner
-Bronze Academic Medal Recipient
Dakota Staffan – 5'9" R/R, Johnstown, OH(Johnstown Monroe HS)
-Batted .464 with 5 HR/30 RBI in 2022
-Finished last season with a 3.96 ERA
