Vikings to Play Four Games in Two Days

CLINTON, South Carolina – The Cleveland State Vikings softball team is set to take on Wagner and Presbyterian this weekend (Feb. 29, March 1) in a pair of double-headers. The schedule is as follows:

The Vikings come into this weekend with a 2-3 overall record, after competing in the Cardinal Invitational in San Antonio, Texas.

Cleveland State leads the Horizon League in ERA with a combined earned run average of 3.15. Kelly Hysong (2-1) is third in the HL with an ERA of 1.94, striking out 13 in 18.0 innings pitched this season. The senior from Beach City, Ohio pitched a complete game, only allowing two hits, in a 5-0 win against Fairleigh Dickinson (Feb. 15).

Mackenzie Tucker and Lindsay Ward are both top-10 in the league in batting average. Tucker, batting .444 (4-9), is fifth in the league and has a perfect 1.000 slugging percentage. Ward sits ninth in the Horizon, with a batting average of .400 (2-5). Ward, a senior outfielder, has an on base percentage of .625, good for second-best in the league.

Cleveland State has smacked four home runs in five games, all by four separate players: Sydney Bajusz, Aly Packish, Courtney Fernette, Kaelin Ettinger.

Following the conclusion of Cleveland State's four-game, two-day stint in Cinton, South Carolina, the Vikings will play 14 games from Friday, March 6 until Saturday, March 14, in Longwood, Florida.
