Cleveland State Women's Soccer Victorious on Senior Day

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Vikings (3-1-2) upended Niagara (2-3-0) on Senior Day by a final score of 3-2. Prior to the contest, Cleveland State recognized its ten seniors; Megan Bine, Rylee Bussen, Courtney Coholich, McKenna Donahue, Lina Feltovich, Grace Krosky, Cassidy Lewis, Abigail McKeown, Helena Novatsidis, and Maddie Young.

THE GAME
The Green and White scored the lone goal of the first half in the 33rd minute when Kathryn Ramicone beat her defender and fired a shot that bounced off the crossbar and in for the 1-0 lead.

Ramicone doubled the advantage in the 56th minute with her second of the game, volleying in a cross from McKenna Donahue. Three minutes later, Ramicone played a ball over the top of the defense and Young finished it off to make it 3-0.

Niagara wouldn't go down easily, scoring a goal in the 79th and 81st minutes to pull within a goal, 3-2. However, the Vikings were able to regroup and hold off the Purple Eagles' surge to come away with the victory.

Cleveland State finished with eights as Young accounted for four and Ramicone had three.

Liv Fain won her first collegiate game in goal, making four saves.

UP NEXT
The Vikings will play their final non-conference game of the year on Saturday, September 10 at Canisius. The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
