Gutlove Named All-Ohio as Trio Earns Academic Honors

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Three members of the Cleveland State University women's soccer team earned postseason honors in a recent announcement made by the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association.

Junior Elena Gutlove was named All-Ohio Second Team at midfielder. Both Gutlove and redshirt senior Toni Dickson earned Academic All-Ohio First Team honors while senior Kailah Ransom claimed Academic All-Ohio Second Team accolades.

Gutlove had a dynamic first season at Cleveland State after transferring into the program last offseason. She paced the team with nine points on the year and finished the season with three goals and three assists. She scored the golden goal in the Vikings' 2-1 victory against Akron and assisted on the game's only goal in a win at Miami (Ohio). Gutlove also scored goals against Ohio and Milwaukee on the season.

Gutlove owns a 3.90 grade point average as a speech & hearing major.

Dickson played in every match this past season after having her 2018 season derailed by a season-ending injury. She started 16 of 17 matches for the Vikings in 2019 and was featured at central defense or in a holding midfield role.

Dickson, who was a two-time Academic All-Horizon League selection, graduated this past December with a 3.94 GPA as a health sciences (Pre-Med) major.

Ransom started all 17 matches this past season, one of only two Vikings to do so. She had a strong senior season on the back line for the Vikings and was one of the most consistent performers for the squad.

Ransom owns a 3.96 GPA as a finance major.

Cleveland State has had at least one All-Ohio selection in each of the past six seasons. Additionally, the Vikings have had multiple Academic All-Ohio honorees in each of the past six seasons with a total of 17 honors earned by CSU players over this time span.
