Dickson Earns Spot on Horizon League All-Academic Team

INDIANAPOLIS - Cleveland State senior Toni Dickson was one of 13 student-athletes to earn recognition on the 2019 Horizon League Women's Soccer All-Academic team selected by the league faculty athletics representatives and announced by the conference office on Friday. The award recognizes outstanding performance in the classroom and on the field of play.

Dickson, who also was named to the 2017 Horizon League Women's Soccer All-Academic team, currently has a 3.94 grade point average in health sciences with a pre-medicine track. Dickson has been a fixture in the Vikings back line this season and has appeared in all 16 matches and has helped Cleveland State post six shutouts.

Eight Horizon League institutions are represented among the nominees. IUPUI leads the League with three total selections. Green Bay, Milwaukee and Wright State each boast two honorees. Cleveland State, Detroit Mercy, Northern Kentucky and UIC round out the all-academic team with one student-athlete each.

The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with seasonal Academic All-League Teams in each of its 19 championship sports. To be eligible for Horizon League All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale), have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits, and participate in 50 percent of the team's overall contests.
