SETTING THE STAGE: The Cleveland State women's soccer team will play its final non-conference match of the season as it hosts Canisius on Sunday (Sept. 15) at 1 p.m. on Krenzler Field.

SENIOR SEND OFF: Cleveland State will honor its six seniors prior to the start of the match...Briana Niedermeier, Bianca Sarti, Elaina Walnoha, Toni Dickson, Kailah Ransom and Sydney Hamker will be honored...Niedermeier, Sarti, Walnoha and Dickson have spent their entire careers at Cleveland State...Ransom has played at Cleveland State for two seasons after transferring from Chicago State...Hamker joined the Vikings this season after beginning her career at Indiana State.

VERSUS CANISIUS: This will mark the 12th all-time meeting between Cleveland State and Canisius with the Vikings holding a 6-5 advantage in the series...Canisius defeated Cleveland State last season by a 1-0 score...The Vikings last win in the series came during the 2017 season when Cleveland State downed the Golden Griffins 2-0...Cleveland State owns a 4-1 all-time advantage in matches played in Cleveland.

ALL-TOURNAMENT VIKINGS: Cleveland State's Elena Gutlove and Kailah Ransom were each named to the all-tournament team at the UTSA Tournament.

HORIZON LEAGUE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Cleveland State's Stevie Holbrook was named the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week on Aug. 26...It marked the second time in her career she has earned Defensive Player of the Week honors from the league.

LAST TIME OUT: Cleveland State earned a 0-0 double overtime draw with Niagara on Thursday on Krenzler Field...Keeper Stevie Holbrook made seven saves to backstop the Vikings to the draw...It marked the third shutout of the season for Holbrook...Grace Grant had five shots to lead the Vikings...Elena Gutlove registered four shots for Cleveland State...Cleveland State failed to score for the third consecutive match, which marked the first time since the last four matches of the 2015 season...Each team had 16 shots during the run of play.

IN THE PRESEASON: Cleveland State played a pair of exhibition matches in the run up to the season opener...The Vikings tied Buffalo 1-1 at Buffalo on Aug. 12...Cleveland State dropped a 2-0 decision to Duquesne at Krenzler Field on Aug. 16...Freshman McKenna Donahue scored the Vikings goal against Buffalo.

HORIZON LEAGUE POLL: Cleveland State was selected to finish third in the Horizon League Preseason Poll as selected by the league head coaches...The Vikings received two first-place votes and finished with 73 points...Defending Horizon League champion Milwaukee was tabbed as the league favorite, while Northern Kentucky was chosen to finish second in the poll.

THE COACHES: Cleveland State head coach Dallas Boyer is in his third season at the helm of the Vikings and has compiled a 22-19-4 overall record...Todd Clark is in his fifth season as the head coach at Canisius Niagara and has an overall record of 31-43-5 at Canisius.
