Taylor Riggs, head women's and men's golf coach at the University of the Cumberlands for the past three seasons, enters his first season as the head coach of Cleveland State's women's golf team.

During his three years as the head coach of the women’s and men’s programs at the University of the Cumberlands, the Patriots won a combined five Mid-South Conference Championships.

“My fiancé Amanda and I are thrilled to be a part of the Cleveland State family and the women’s golf program,” said Riggs. “I would like to thank Coach Weir and the administration for the opportunity to join such a great athletic department and University. I look forward to working with our current players and watching them grow and develop with their golf games, while striving for excellence on the course and in the classroom.”

In the 2019 season, the University of the Cumberlands women’s team finished fifth at the NAIA National Championship. The Patriots, who were ranked fifth in the final NAIA National Poll, had four players earn NAIA All-American honors.

In 2018, Riggs led the Patriots to a dominant performance at the Mid-South Conference Championship. The University of the Cumberlands led from start to finish and won the title by 28 strokes to secure an automatic berth into the NAIA National Tournament where the Patriots placed eighth overall.

In his first season at the University of the Cumberlands in 2017, Riggs led the Patriots to the Mid-South Conference Championship and a 12^th-place finish at the NAIA National Tournament.

During his three years at the helm of the women’s program, Riggs had seven players named to the NAIA All-American team.

Riggs also led the Patriots men’s team to Mid-South Conference titles in both 2017 and 2018 and had two players earn NAIA All-American honors.

Prior to being named the head coach at the University of the Cumberlands, Riggs was a graduate assistant at his alma mater Eastern Kentucky for one season. Riggs was a four-year letterwinner at Eastern Kentucky and earned All-Ohio Valley Conference honors in 2015, while also serving as team captain in 2014 and 2015.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in sport management from Eastern Kentucky in 2015, while he received his master’s degree in sport management from Eastern Kentucky in 2017.
