Vikings Tabbed to Finish Fifth in Horizon League

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – The Cleveland State Vikings have been selected to finish fifth in the Horizon League Women's Golf Preseason Poll, as selected by the conference head coaches and announced by the league office on Wednesday (Feb. 19).

The Vikings received 35 points, finishing fifth in the preseason poll, sitting behind Oakland (42 points), Green Bay (47 points), Youngstown State (52 points) and IUPUI (64 points). IUPUI received all eight first-place votes.

Leading the way for the Vikings this season are seniors Kaylee Neumeister and Rayna Oosterhuis.

Junior Madison Butler, who was a 2019 Second Team All-Horizon League member, had a solid fall season for Cleveland State, notching a team-high tying 76.0 average, with six top 20 finishes, including two finishes inside the top 10. Fellow junior Ashley Knight also compiled a 76.0 average, with five top 20 finishes.

Cleveland State will begin its spring season next week at the Islander Classic (Corpus Christi CC): Monday Feb. 24 and Tuesday, Feb. 25.

The 2020 Horizon League women's golf championship will take place on April 26-28 at the Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
