Vikings Wrap-Up Fall Season at Dayton Flyers Invitational

TOURNAMENT PREVIEW

CLEVELAND – The Cleveland State women's golf team will play its final tournament of the fall season beginning on Monday (Oct. 14) at the Dayton Flyers Invitational on the NCR Country Club course.

The tournament, which will be contested on the par-70, 5,800-yard layout on the North Course of the NCR Country Club, will consist of 18 holes on Monday and conclude with 18 holes on Tuesday.

The 14-team field includes Butler, Chicago State, Dayton, Detroit, Eastern Illinois, Findley, Illinois State, Northern Kentucky, Ohio Dominican, Ohio, Tennessee Tech, Valparaiso and Youngstown State. Ohio State will compete individually, but will not enter enough players to compile a team score.

This will mark the Vikings fifth, and final, tournament of the fall season after previously competing in the Roseann Schwartz Invitational, the Cardinal Classic, the Phoenix Invitational and the Shirley Spork Invitational.

Madison Butler, Ashley Knight, Grace Zimmerman, Rayna Oosterhuis and Lexi Knight will compete for the Vikings during the two-day tournament.

Ashley Knight leads the Vikings after the first four tournaments of the fall with a 75.7 scoring average, while Butler ranks second on the team averaging 76.0.

Zimmerman has had a solid fall season and brings a 77.8 average into Monday's opening round.

Oosterhuis will be competing for the second time this fall for the Vikings and currently has an 81.5 scoring average, while Lexi Knight is competing for the second straight tournament and has an 83.6 stroke average.

Ashley Knight led the Vikings in their most recent action at the Shirley Spork Invitational on Sept. 30-Oct. 1. Knight posted rounds of 75-73-75 and finished tied for seventh overall to lead the Vikings.

Butler also notched a top-20 finish for Cleveland State as she fired rounds of 74-79-76 to finish tied for 20th overall.
