Cleveland State Returns to Action at Phoenix Invitational

TOURNAMENT PREVIEW

CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland State women's golf team resumes its fall schedule as it will compete in the Phoenix Invitational hosted by Elon. The tournament will begin on Monday (Sept. 23) on the Alamance Country Club course.

Ten teams will comprise the field for the Phoenix Invitational. Participants include: Appalachian State, Campbell, Charleston Southern, Charleston, Elon, Gardner-Webb, North Carolina A&T, Presbyterian and Wofford.

The opening 36 holes of play will begin on Monday at 8:45 a.m. with a shotgun start. Tuesday's final round will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.

The Alamance Country Club is a par-71, 6,706-yard course in Burlington, N.C.

This will mark the Vikings third tournament of the season having participated in the Roseann Schwartz Invitational and the Cardinal Classic to open the season. The Vikings opened the season by placing second at the Roseann Schwartz Invitational with a team score of 619.

Through two tournaments, Ashley Knight has been the Vikings top performer as she is averaging 76.0 strokes per round. Madison Butler ranks second on the team with a 77.4 scoring average.

Grace Zimmerman, who is coming off of a career-best round of 73 in the final round of the Cardinal Classic, is third on the team with a 78.4 average.

Lexi Knight is fourth with an 80.0 average, while Rayna Oosterhuis is averaging 81.5 strokes per round.

Meg Rossouw (82.0) and Averi Hanna (82.2) round out the Cleveland State team.
