Zerr & Cook Set To Join Cleveland State Women’s Basketball Staff

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State women's basketball head coach Chris Kielsmeier has announced the final additions to his staff for the 2022-23 season, as Hanna Zerr and August Cook are both set to join the Vikings.

Zerr joins the Vikings as the Special Assistant to the Head Coach, while Cook will be serving as the Video Coordinator.

Most recently, Zerr served as the Assistant Director of Unified Champion Schools for Special Olympics South Dakota, where she coordinated day-to-day programming activities, implemented intramural sports with local high schools and colleges, while also assisting with the writing and reporting of UCS grants.

"We are thrilled to be adding Hanna to our program, she will be able to handle a wide array of responsibilities that will make Cleveland State women's basketball better as we continue our championship chase," Kielsmeier said. "Hanna has a personality that will allow her to fit seamlessly into our staff, while she will also be able to easily connect to our student-athletes in addition to the athletic department staff and CSU campus community."

Prior to her time at Special Olympics South Dakota, Zerr served as a Graduate Assistant for Athletics Administration at Augustana University where she helped with donor development, event management, marketing and fan engagement.

"I am beyond thankful for this opportunity, Cleveland State women's basketball is an extremely dedicated and motivated group on and off the court and I am excited to be part of a high caliber program," Zerr said. "Thank you to Coach Kielsmeier and the staff for the chance to share my passion for basketball and support the championship chase!"

Zerr is a 2017 graduate of Bemidji State University, where she was a four-year member of the women's basketball team.

Cook joins the Vikings as a recent graduate of the University of Dayton, where he was a four-year student manager for the women's basketball team, including serving as the head manager during the 2021-22 campaign.

"The entire program is excited to add August to our staff, his experience and knowledge of film, graphics and social media is something that will help Cleveland State women's basketball continue to get better on and off the court," Kielsmeier said. "August will be a strong asset for not only our staff, but also our student-athletes, and I'm looking forward to watching him grow as a Viking."

During Cook's time at Dayton, the Flyers posted an 82-33 record, capturing a trio of A10 Regular Season Championships, while also claiming the 2020 A10 Tournament Title. Dayton earned a trip to the postseason during three of the last four years (excluding 2020 due to COVID-19), including a second round appearance in last season's NCAA Tournament.

"Joining this program is an excellent opportunity and means so much to me," Cook said. "Cleveland State women's basketball is in a great place right now and I can't wait to get started and contribute in every way I can as we continue to chase championships!"
