Cleveland State Women’s Basketball Adds Shadiya Thomas For 2022-23 Campaign

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State women's basketball head coach Chris Kielsmeier announced another addition to the 2022-23 recruiting class Thursday morning, as Shadiya Thomas (Cypress, Texas) will join the Vikings for the upcoming season.

Thomas will join the Vikings with three years of eligibility remaining.

"Shadiya is a quick and versatile guard who can handle the ball efficiently, and makes plays for herself and her teammates. She is a National Champion on the court who knows what it takes to win at a high level, and is also a champion in the classroom. We are very excited to be adding her to our program for the next three years," Kielsmeier said.

Thomas joins the Vikings after spending the 2021-22 campaign at Tyler Junior College, where she was part of an NJCAA DI National Championship team. Thomas averaged 7.7 points, 4.2 assists and 3.0 rebounds on the year, helping Tyler to a 28-8 overall record en route to capturing the 2022 National Championship.

Thomas earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team after helping Tyler to its second NJCAA National Championship in program history.

"I chose Cleveland State because I can really see myself thriving here and winning lots of championships along the way!" said Thomas.

Thomas started her collegiate career at the United States Air Force Academy, where she appeared in just seven games during the 2020-21 campaign.

Thomas is a native of Cypress, Texas, where she played her high school basketball at Cypress Ranch, earning First Team and Second Team All-District honors along with multiple All-Tournament accolades.

Thomas will join Jordana Reisma, Sara Guerreiro, and Carmen Villalobos as part of Cleveland State's incoming class for the 2022-23 season.
