Women’s Basketball Comes Up Short In #HLWBB Semifinal

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After earning a spot in the Horizon League Semifinals for the first time since the 2014-15 campaign, the Cleveland State women's basketball team came up short Monday afternoon, dropping a 71-54 contest against top-seeded IUPUI. Playing as the No. 6 seed, the Vikings finished the game with a 21-11 overall record.

Game Stats
· Mariah White led four Vikings in double-figures, finishing with 16 points on the game, while Jade Ely, Mariah Miller and JaMiya Braxton all finished with 11.
 Mariah Miller grabbed a team-high six rebounds.
· Mariah White posted five assists on the game, while Jade Ely added two.
· As a team, the Vikings recorded 11 steals, with three from JaMiya Braxton and two from Jade Ely, Mariah Miller and Aminata Ly.

Game Notes
· With her 11 points against IUPUI, Mariah Miller moved into 18th place on the CSU Scoring List finishing the game with 1,160 career points.
· After grabbing one steal against IUPUI, Mariah White moved into a tie for fifth place in the CSU Single-Season Record Book, finishing the game with 96 steals on the year.
· Monday's game marked the 14th time this season that the Vikings have recorded double-digit steals, posting 11 against IUPUI.

The Game
After holding a slim 16-15 lead after the first 10 minutes of action, the Vikings struggled during the second quarter, as IUPUI was able to outscore the Vikings 16-4 to take a 31-20 advantage into the halftime break.

The Vikings were slowly able to work their way back into the contest throughout the third quarter, including a four-minute stretch that Cleveland State posted a 15-7 run, closing the gap to seven points at 47-40 on a Mariah Miller jumper.

IUPUI responded with a 7-2 run to close out the frame then, as the Jaguars held a 54-42 lead heading into the final 10 minutes of action.

IUPUI was then able to hold a double-digit lead throughout the majority of the fourth quarter, as they pulled away late for the 71-54 victory to end Cleveland State's run in the #HLWBB Tournament.
