Shyla Latone Set To Join Women’s Basketball Program For 2018-19 Season

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's basketball team added another student-athlete to the roster for the 2018-19 season Thursday, as Shyla Latone has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Cleveland State University beginning next fall.

Latone will enter Cleveland State as a freshman, with four years of eligibility remaining.

Latone, a 5-5 point guard from San Diego, California, joins the Vikings after a standout career at Bonita Vista High School where she was a four-year starter for the Barons.

As a senior, Latone averaged 36.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, 4.5 steals, and 4.0 assists per game, leading Bonita Vista to a 35-7 overall record. Latone finished her final high school campaign with 1,290 points on the year, and was named the San Diego County, California Interscholastic Federation-San Diego and Metro League Player of the Year.

Latone also picked up First Team All-San Diego and All-Metro League accolades.

On January 19, 2018, Latone set a personal-best with 76 points in a single-game, while she finished her career with 3,181 total points.

Latone is the daughter of Robert and Rachelle O'Rourke, and has two sisters, Micheala and Saige.

Latone joins the trio of JaMiya Braxton, Isabella Geraci and Savanna Crockett, who all signed National Letters of Intent in November, to form the 2018-19 signing class.
