Cleveland State Men’s Tennis Returns To Action At ITA Midwest Regional

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team will return to action this week, participating in the ITA Midwest Regional beginning on Thursday, October 20. This year's ITA Midwest Regional will be hosted by Illinois and will take place in Champaign, Ill.

ITA MIDWEST CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL

Midwest Regional Field
Cleveland State will be one of 18 teams competing in the Midwest Regional, including Horizon League opponents Chicago State and Youngstown State. 

Qualifying Singles Draw
Cleveland State will have six representatives in the Qualifying Singles Draw, including Kade Mindry, Raul Teichmann, JuandeDios Abboud, Devin Boyer, Alan Matyjas, and Carl Gedlitschka. This group will begin action on Thursday, October 20 in the 64-player Qualifying Draw, with 16 players from the Qualifying Draw advancing to the Main Draw.  

Main Singles Draw
The Cleveland State duo of Maxime Mareschal-Hay and Mikael Erler earned a spot in the Main Singles Draw this year, marking the second Main Draw appearance for Mareschal-Hay and the first for Erler. The 64-player Main Singles Draw will begin on Friday, October 21.  

Main Doubles Draw
Cleveland State will also have four doubles teams in the Main Doubles Draw, with action in the 64-team bracket set to begin on Friday, October 21.  

Midwest Regional History
The group of Maxime Mareschal-Hay, Mikael Erler, Kade Mindry, JuandeDios Abboud, and Raul Teichmann will all be making their second appearances at the ITA Midwest Regional, while Devin Boyer, Alan Matyjas and Carl Gedlitschka will be making their debuts.  

2022 Fall Campaign
This will mark the fourth of seven tournaments for the Vikings this fall, and the first since the duo of Mareschal-Hay and Erler were in action at the ITA All-American Championships at the beginning of the month. Cleveland State will close out the fall campaign by hosting the Viking Invitational and The Green & White Invitational, while also participating in the Wake Forest Invite.
