Mostardi & Phillips Earn #HLMTEN Doubles Team Of The Week

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the third straight week the Cleveland State men's tennis team has captured Horizon League Doubles Team of the Week honors, as the No. 1 tandem of Nico Mostardi and Luke Phillips brought home this week's accolade.

Last weekend, Mostardi and Phillips went 2-0 at the top of the doubles lineup, picking up back-to-back wins at Ball State and Valparaiso. The duo posted matching 6-4 victories in both contests, as they have now won five of their last six outings.

"Nico and Luke give us a great No. 1 doubles team, and I feel like they are continuing to develop as a team as the season goes on," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "With Nico and Luke at the top of the doubles lineup it gives us a great chance to pick up the doubles point, and their skills compliment each other very well on the court. Nico is hitting a big ball right now and Luke's ability to finish makes them a tough opponent for anyone."

For the season, Mostardi and Phillips own a team-best 8-4 record, including a 6-3 mark this spring.

With the two wins last weekend, Mostardi is now in sole possession of ninth place on the CSU Doubles Wins List with 65 career wins, while Phillips now has 53 career doubles victories.

Mostardi, Phillips and the Vikings will be idle until next week, when they are set to face Western Michigan (Wednesday, February 26) and Purdue (Sunday, March 1).
