Mostardi Ranked #65 In Oracle ITA National Singles Rankings

TEMPE, Ariz. – For the second time in his Cleveland State career, senior men's tennis standout Nico Mostardi has earned a spot in the Oracle ITA National Singles Rankings, as he finished the 2019 fall campaign ranked 65th nationally.

COMPLETE ORACLE ITA NATIONAL RANKINGS

Mostardi finished the fall season with a 6-6 singles record, and is one of just 22 players from mid-major schools to appear in the rankings, and one of just 10 to be ranked in the top-75.

"I'm glad to see Nico's hard work being acknowledged in the rankings, and it's great to see him representing Cleveland State and the Horizon League among the top players in the nation," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "He was able to open up his senior year with a competitive fall season, and I'm looking forward to more good tennis from Nico this spring."

During the fall campaign, Mostardi earned invites to four national tournaments – Oracle ITA Masters, ITA All-American Championships, ITA Midwest Regional & Oracle ITA National Fall Championship – with his trip to the Fall Championship marking a first in program history.

Mostardi's signature win of the fall season came at the Oracle ITA Masters, as he earned an upset victory over No. 44 Sven Lah of Baylor in the first round of the Main Singles Draw. This marked the highest ranked singles win in program history, while it also marked just the second time that a Horizon League player has earned a win in the first round of the prestigious event.

2019 MATCH-BY-MATCH RESULTS

This marks the second time that Mostardi has appeared in the National Singles Rankings, as he also finished last fall in the top-125, earning a No. 113 ranking. Mostardi is the only Viking in program history to earn a National Singles Ranking, while he also appeared in the year-end National Doubles Rankings with Benjamin Slade last spring.

Mostardi will now enter the spring season with a 76-43 career singles record, and is ranked seventh on the CSU Singles Wins List as one of seven Vikings all-time with 75+ career victories.
