Men’s Tennis Set To Host Viking Invitational

CLEVELAND, OHIO – The Cleveland State men's tennis team will continue its fall season this weekend, hosting the fourth annual Viking Invitational. Action at the Viking Invitational will begin on Friday, November 1 and run through Sunday, November 4 in the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion on the Cleveland State campus.

2019 Viking Invitational
This year's Viking Invitational will be a single flight tournament, with a 32-player singles draw and a 16-team doubles draw. There will also be a backdraw for both singles and doubles matches.

Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion
The Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion is Cleveland State's on-campus indoor facility, which features six temperature controlled courts and spectator seating for 200 fans. For those fans that are interested in attending the Viking Invitational, use the GPS address below:

Last Time Out…
Cleveland State competed at the ITA Midwest Regional, with Matthew Terry advancing to the Round of 16 in the Main Singles Draw and the doubles team of Nico Mostardi and Luke Phillips advancing to the Quarterfinals of the Main Doubles Draw. Both matched program-best finishes for the Vikings, while Terry has now reached the Round of 16 in each of his first three seasons at Cleveland State.

CSU Singles Wins List
Entering the Viking Invitational the duo of Nico Mostardi and Matthew Terry rank in the top-10 on the CSU Singles Wins List – Mostardi ranking seventh with 76 career victories and Terry ranking 10th with 64 career wins. Earlier this season, Mostardi became one of just seven Vikings all-time to reach the 75-win milestone with his first round win at the ITA All-American Championship, while Terry earned his spot in the top-10 following his 5-1 performance on the same weekend.

Head Coach Brian Etzkin
The Vikings will be under the direction of 18-year head coach Brian Etzkin. As the all-time winningest coach in program history, Etzkin eclipsed the 250-win mark last season, finishing the year with 254 career victories after leading the Vikings to their seventh Horizon League title in program history.
