Men’s Tennis Set To Host Viking Invitational

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team will close out its fall season this weekend, hosting the third annual Viking Invitational. Action at the Viking Invitational will begin on Friday, November 2 and run through Sunday, November 4 in the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion on the Cleveland State campus. 

2018 Viking Invitational
This year's Viking Invitational will be a single flight tournament, with a 48-player singles draw and a 24-team doubles draw. There will also be a backdraw for both singles and doubles matches.

Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion
The Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion is Cleveland State's on-campus indoor facility, which features six temperature controlled courts and spectator seating for 200 fans. Construction of the MMTP was completed during the spring of 2016, with the first match being held on March 9, 2016. Viking Invitational History
Cleveland State has had a lot of success at the Viking Invitational, as Nico Mostardi is the two-time defending singles champion, while the Cleveland State doubles team of Mostardi and Matthew Terry took home the doubles crown last year.

Slade On CSU Singles Wins List
Entering the week, senior Benjamin Slade ranks eighth on the CSU Singles Wins List, owning 65 career victories after going 3-1 at the ITA Midwest Regional last time out. Slade, who is the only current Viking to be on the CSU Singles Wins List, needs just five more wins to become the seventh Viking all-time to reach the 70-win mark.

Mostardi Chasing Win #50
Entering the Viking Invitational, junior Nico Mostardi is just one win shy of reaching 50 victories for his career. Mostardi, who has a 49-31 career record, would become the 14th Viking to join the 50-win club, joining teammate Benjamin Slade.
