Mostardi Bows Out Of ITA All-American Championship

TULSA, Okla. – Cleveland State men's tennis junior Nico Mostardi bowed out of the ITA All-American Championship Tuesday, falling in the second round of the Qualifying Draw.

Mostardi, who qualified for the ITA All-American Championship based on his results from last season, earned a spot in this week's Qualifying Draw, and came up just shy of earning a spot in the Main Draw.

In his second round match, Mostardi faced off against Tennessee Tech's Rafael Tosetto, dropping a 6-4, 6-3 contest.

Mostardi finished the ITA All-American Championship with a 1-1 record, including a 5-7, 6-4, 7-6(4) victory that he posted against Kentucky's Enzo Wallart in yesterday's first round contest.

For the season, Mostardi now stands at 2-3 after also playing in the prestigious Oracle ITA Masters last month.

From The Sidelines
"This was a good tournament for us, unless you win the entire tournament you always wish you could have won more matches, but overall the Vikings had a good run. There are definitely a lot of positives to take with us as we move through the season for both Nico and Matt. Nico was able to get a quality win yesterday while playing some very good tennis, and finally putting all of the pieces of his game together. Matt had three good wins with a chance for a fourth earlier this weekend, and will definitely be able to use this experience moving forward. Both Nico and Matt competed well throughout the entire tournament, and that is a good sign of things to come this season." – head coach Brian Etzkin
