Vikings Announce Addition of Michael Neumann

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State University head men's soccer coach Sinisa Ubiparipovic announced Friday afternoon that Michael Neumann has formally committed to join the program for the 2020-2021 academic year.

Neumann is an attacking player that hails from Strongsville, Ohio. He has competed for both Strongsville High School and Team Challenger 01 on the club circuit, where he has primarily served as an attacking midfielder while also being able to fill in as a center forward.

"Michael is an exciting player with great potential to become a very successful forward at our level," Ubiparipovic said. "He is a proven goal scorer, and we can't wait to see him do the same here at CSU."

Neumann is a two-time Division I All-Ohio honoree, earning the honor as both a junior and a senior. He was named All-Greater Cleveland three times and was selected as an All-Greater Cleveland All-Star in 2019. The three-time all-conference honoree ranks among the top five in Mustang history in both goals and assists. He tallied 46 goals and 32 helpers in 72 career matches played for Strongsville.

Neumann has also been a prolific offensive threat with Team Challenger, producing totals of 71 goals and 42 assists in his time with the club. He has helped his squad win two Ohio North State Cup titles along with two additional semifinal appearances. Along with his team, he competed in the United States Youth Soccer Association National League and the Premier Midwest Regional League from 2015-19.

Ubiparipovic completed his first season as head coach at CSU this past fall and led the Vikings to notable results against nationally ranked Louisville, Ohio State and Akron. The Vikings led the Horizon League in fewest goals allowed, yielding only 17 in 15 matches.
