Jandric & M’Barek Named All-Horizon League

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Junior Vlad Jandric and sophomore Thomas M'Barek of the Cleveland State University men's soccer team were both named All-Horizon League Second Team in an announcement by the League office Monday afternoon.

This is the second straight year that Jandric has earned this honor. M'Barek claimed All-Freshman Team accolades a year ago, but this is his first All-League First or Second Team honor.

Jandric started each of the first 11 matches of the season, extending his streak to 21 straight starts overall, before missing the final four matches due to injury. He earned his All-League selection at midfield but also was forced into action as a defender for the Vikings when injuries hit the back line. His ability to maintain quality even when switching positions is key for CSU. Jandric was named the League's Offensive Player of the Week Oct. 1 after he netted a hat trick against UIC. His three goals were a large factor in ending the Flames' 12-match unbeaten run against League foes. Jandric also had the primary assist on the game-tying goal at Pittsburgh in the Vikings' comeback win against the Panthers.

M'Barek started every match of the season, the only Viking to do so in 2018. He played a team-leading 1,321 minutes while captaining the side for the first time. He has a strong claim to being the top defender on the Vikings this season. His ability to work in tight spaces and snuff out potentially dangerous attacks were often on display for Cleveland State in 2018. M'Barek earned weekly defensive honors from the League after helping the Vikings shut out Ohio State, the Vikings' first win over the Buckeyes since 1996. M'Barek helped ensure that the Vikings were only outshot by one League opponent this season. He also assisted on the game's opening goal against IUPUI.

This is the fourth consecutive season in which multiple Vikings have earned First or Second Team honors.
