Tristan Hanna Selected by the New York Riptide of the National Lacrosse League

CLEVELAND – Cleveland State University attacker, Tristan Hanna, was drafted on Saturday evening by the New York Riptide of the National Lacrosse League. Hanna was the 65th overall pick on the evening, becoming the first player to be selected under head coach Andy German.

Coach German said, "This is a tremendous honor for Tristan, his family and our Vikings Lacrosse family. We could not be happier for him. He was a catalyst for our program early on, leading by example on the field, but more importantly off the field. The Riptide just gained a lot of fans here in Cleveland and we're excited to watch their success this season and beyond."

Hanna, a native of Leaskdale, Ontario, graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in criminology and psychology in 2021. As a senior, he was named a USILA Scholar All-American.

Hanna never missed a game in his four-year career, playing in all 46 contests for the Vikings. During his career, he scored 57 goals and had 25 assists for 82 points. In addition, he scooped up 52 ground balls and caused 12 turnovers.

Hanna leaves the Green and White as the record holder for career goals (57) and most goals in a season (26 as a junior). During his junior season, Hanna scored the game-tying and game-winning goals against Air Force, helping Cleveland State win their first-ever game against a nationally ranked team.

The New York Riptide were founded in 2019, and will be entering their second season in December. The team plays their games at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York.
