KETTERING, Ohio – The Cleveland State University men's golf team closed the fall portion of its schedule Tuesday by shooting a final-round 294 at the Dayton Flyer Invitational.
CSU finished in ninth place at +36 (888) at the NCR Country Club's South Course, a par-71, 7,100-yard layout.
Sophomore Jules Blakely was the Vikings' top finisher at the event, tying for 20th. He recovered nicely from a rough start in the final round. After being +3 through three holes, he was -1 across the final 15 to finish the round at +2 (73). That left him at +7 (220) for the tournament.
Sophomore Zach Robbins matched Blakely for the top round by a Viking Tuesday with a 73. He made three birdies, five bogeys and 10 pars on the day and finished the event one shot behind his classmate at +8 (221).
Sophomore Zak Supelak and freshman Miles DeMeusy both posted +3 (74) in the final round. Supelak was one shot adrift of Robbins at +9 (222) while DeMeusy's 230 represented a new 54-hole best as a collegian.
Freshman Jack Hanus shot 78 Tuesday and finished the tournament with a three-round score of 229.
Blakely is the fourth different Viking to be the team's top finisher in the five events that Cleveland State played this fall.
Supelak (73.7) just edged out Robbins (73.9) for the top scoring average on the team during the fall portion of the season.
Cleveland State averaged 295.5 strokes per round as a team in the fall.
