Daytona Beach, FL-The Cleveland State men's basketball team has accepted an invitation to compete in the 2023 Discount Tire College Basketball Invitational(CBI) to be held March 18-22 in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Cleveland State is the ninth seed in the 16-team field and will take on Eastern Kentucky in the first round on Sunday, March 19 at 11 a.m. EST.
This marks the third consecutive postseason appearance for Cleveland State, and the first ever appearance in the CBI. The Vikings finished the regular season with a 21-13 overall record. The Vikings finished tied for second in the Horizon League regular season standings with a 14-6 conference record. Cleveland State concluded the regular season with a runner-up finish in the Horizon League Tournament last week, after being picked seventh in the preseason poll. First-year Head Coach Daniyal Robinson is off to the best opening year start in program history.
The CBI features a 16-team field and is a single-elimination, bracket style tournament. Games will be held at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach. This marks the 16th year of the tournament, and the third consecutive year that it will be held in Daytona Beach.
The Vikings join fellow Horizon League foe Milwaukee in the tournament field. The first round and quarterfinals will be broadcast live on FloHoops. The semifinals and championship game will be broadcast live on ESPN2.
