Cleveland State Men’s Basketball Earns 100-56 Victory Over CWRU In Exhibition Contest

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's basketball team kicked off the 2021-22 campaign Saturday, hosting Case Western in an exhibition contest. The Vikings picked up a 100-56 victory in their first of two exhibition games, as they will also host Otterbein on Friday, November 5.

Prior to Saturday's game, the Vikings were honored with a pre-game ring and banner ceremony, celebrating the 2020-21 Horizon League Regular Season and Tournament Championships.

During the first half, the Vikings were able to hold a 41-35 advantage after the first 20-minutes of action, before a 20-6 run over the first four minutes of the second half gave the Vikings a comfortable lead at 61-41. Over the next seven minutes, the Vikings extended their lead to 37 points at the 82-45 mark.

The Vikings were able to control play throughout the rest of the game then, closing out the contest with nine of the final 11 points to earn the 100-56 victory.

Fifteen Vikings saw action in the first exhibition contest of the season, including five of which scored in double-figures.

Cleveland State will return to action on Friday, November 5, hosting Otterbein in the final exhibition of the 2021-22 campaign. The contest against Otterbein will begin at 7:00 p.m. inside the Wolstein Center, and will once again feature a pre-game ring and banner ceremony commemorating the team's NCAA Tournament appearance.
