GAME RECAP

CLEVELAND -- Algevon Eichelberger led three players in double figures in scoring with 20 points, but Oakland ended Cleveland State's three-game winning streak with a 68-55 Horizon League victory over the Vikings on Saturday in the Wolstein Center.

Eichelberger finished the game 7-of-12 from the floor and 6-of-11 from the free throw line to lead the Vikings in scoring for the sixth time this season. He reached double figures in scoring for the sixth consecutive game and for the 11th time on the season.

Craig Beaudion added 11 points and four rebounds, while Torrey Patton finished with 10 points and four rebounds.

Oakland, which improved to 7-11 overall and 2-3 in Horizon League play, shot 59.1 percent from the floor in the second half to slowly pull away from the Vikings.

Cleveland State, which dropped to 7-11 on the year and 3-2 in the Horizon League, is currently tied with Northern Kentucky for third place in the league standings.

The Vikings trailed by 12 points midway through the first half before storming back prior to halftime. Cleveland State closed the opening period on a 6-0 run to cut the deficit to 30-27 at the intermission.

Cleveland State eventually tied the game at 37-37 on a free throw by Beaudion with 15:21 to play in the game.

It remainded a two-possession game for the duration of the second period until the Golden Grizzlies pushed the lead to nine points with 3:28 to play in the contest.

Cleveland State returns to action on Thursday (Jan. 16) when it visits league-leading Wright State for a 7 p.m. Horizon League game.
