Chelsea Blakely

Cleveland State Athletics announced the appointment of Chelsea Blakely as the department's Deputy Athletics Director for External Operations on Tuesday, February 1, 2022. Blakely brings thirteen years of athletics marketing and revenue generation experience after stops at Robert Morris University and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. 

At CSU Blakely will oversee all external unit strategy development and implementation including marketing, communications, ticket sales, corporate sponsorships and fundraising. She will also serve as sport administrator for the Vikings volleyball and men's and women's tennis programs. 

Blakely comes to Cleveland State after nearly three years as the Deputy Director of Athletics/Chief Marketing Officer/Senior Woman Administrator with Robert Morris University Athletics. Blakely was responsible for leading various units throughout RMU Athletics including external operations and revenue generation, academics and student services, as well as serving as the sport supervisor for volleyball, softball and women's lacrosse.  

Prior to her time at RMU, Blakely spent a total of sixteen years as a student-athlete and then athletics staff member for the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (previously the University of Texas – Pan American).  A decorated volleyball student-athlete from 2005-2009, Blakely left UTRGV as Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Operations and Senior Woman Administrator overseeing external operations priorities including brand development and revenue generation, while also serving as the primary administrator for Title IX, gender equity, and diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.
