A look at what's happening in Cleveland State Athletics...

Men's Basketball
-Cleveland State (1-1) returns to the road for a pair of non-conference games this week, traveling to Missouri State on Tuesday, November 12 and South Carolina on Friday, November 15.
-Last week the Vikings opened the Dennis Gates era, dropping an 85-50 decision at Minnesota and picking up a 79-54 victory over Edinboro in the 2019-20 home opener.
-The win over Edinboro marked the first victory for head coach Dennis Gates.
-Cleveland State shot 50.9 percent from the floor against the Fighting Scots, and placed four players in double figures, led by Deante Johnson with 13 points.

Women's Basketball
-The Vikings (0-1) will split their time at home and on the road this week, hosting Davis & Elkins in the home opener on Wednesday, November 13 before traveling to LIU on Saturday, November 16.
-Last time out, Cleveland State opened the 2019-20 campaign at Bowling Green, dropping an 89-62 decision to the Falcons.
-Sophomore Savanna Crockett recorded a double-double against BG, finishing with 12 points and 13 rebounds, while Mariah Miller tallied a team-best 16 points. 

Volleyball
-Cleveland State (7-18, 3-11) will close out the regular season at home this weekend, hosting Northern Kentucky on Friday, November 15 and IUPUI on Saturday, November 16.
-Saturday's match against IUPUI will mark Senior Day, as the Vikings will honor the trio of Katie Jorn, Jordan Verbiak and Trinniti Hall prior to the match against the Jaguars.
-Entering the final week of the regular season, Trinniti Hall ranks third in the #HLVB standings averaging 3.35 kills per set, while Christina Grecol also ranks third averaging 9.47 assists per set.

Cross Country
-The Vikings will close out the 2019 campaign this week, participating in the NCAA Regional on Friday, November 15.
-Last time out the Vikings finished eighth at the Horizon League Championship, paced by Anna Brandt who finished 12th individually with a 6K time of 21:08.
-With her 12th place finish, Anna Brandt earned Second Team All-League honors, becoming the first Viking all-time to be a three-time All-League honoree. 

Men's Soccer
-Cleveland State dropped its season finale, 1-0, to Detroit Mercy this past weekend despite outshooting the Titans, 21-10.
-The Vikings finished the season with a 7-7-1 overall mark, including a 3-5-0 record in the Horizon League.
-Gabriel Pewu led the team with nine goals and 19 points.
-The Vikings finished with a league-best 1.10 goals against average.

Wrestling
-Cleveland State will take the upcoming weekend off before competing at the Navy Classic November 23.
-Four Vikings won titles as CSU competed at the Ohio Intercollegiate Open this past weekend.
-Brady Barnett (157 pounds), Evan Cheek (141), Justin Patrick (133) and Ben Smith (197) all finished first at the event.
-Barnett now owns a team-leading 10 wins while Cheek moved to 8-0 on the young season. 

Fencing
-Cleveland State heads to the Case Western Duals this Saturday, November 16.
-Both the Viking men and women posted 6-0 marks in their last dual competition at the CSU Duals.

Men's Tennis
-The Vikings wrapped up the 2019 fall season last week, as senior Nico Mostardi competed at the Oracle ITA National Fall Championship.
-Mostardi earned his first trip to the Oracle ITA National Fall Championship by virtue of a Wildcard Qualifier, becoming the first-ever Viking to appear in the tournament.
-Mostardi and the Vikings will return to action in January, when they open up their spring campaign looking to defend their Horizon League title.

Viking Of The Week
Brady Barnett, Wrestling
The redshirt sophomore was rarely challenged en route to winning the 157-pound title at the Ohio Intercollegiate Open this past weekend. He netted pins in each of his first two matches, the first of which came against an Ohio State opponent. He then claimed a 14-7 win over a fellow MAC opponent to reach the championship, which he won with a comfortable 8-1 victory. Barnett moved to 10-1 on the young season as he became the first Viking to reach double-digit wins on the campaign.
