A look at what's happening in Cleveland State Athletics...

Men's Soccer
-Cleveland State (3-2-1, 2-1-0) continues Horizon League play this week by opening a three-game road trip at Green Bay Saturday, October 5.
-The Vikings won their second straight league match this past weekend, holding on to claim a 1-0 win over Milwaukee.
-Senior Lawrence Karpeh scored the lone goal while freshman Omeed Naeemy made seven saves in securing the shutout.

Women's Soccer
-Cleveland State (3-5-2, 1-1-0) will continue its three-game homestand this week, hosting Youngstown State in a midweek matchup on Wednesday, October 2 before welcoming Oakland on Sunday, October 6.
-Last time out, the Vikings dropped a 5-1 contest against league-leading Milwaukee, with junior Elena Gutlove scoring her team-leading third goal of the season in the setback.

Volleyball
-Cleveland State (4-9, 0-2) will return home for a brief two-match #HLVB homestand this weekend, hosting Milwaukee on Friday, October 4 and Green Bay on Saturday, October 5.
-Last time out, the Vikings opened Horizon League play on the road, dropping a pair of matches at IUPUI and Northern Kentucky.
-Entering the second week of league play, Trinniti Hall ranks second among league players averaging 3.43 kills per set, while Christina Grecol also ranks second averaging 9.98 assists per set.

Cross Country
-The Vikings will have two weeks off from competition, returning to the course at the Disney Cross Country Classic on Saturday, October 12.
-Cleveland State continued its 2019 season last weekend, competing in the All-Ohio Championship.
-For the second straight race, Anna Brandt and Olivia Hammons were the top two Viking finishers, including Brandt's 14th place individual finish.

Men's Golf
-The Vikings will have the week off from competition, returning to action next Monday and Tuesday (October 7-8) when they host the Tom Tontimonia Invitational at Lakewood Country Club.
-Last time out, the Vikings finished 12th as a team at the River Run Challenge, as junior Zach Robbins finished tied for seventh individually after shooting 70-72-74.
-Jack Hanus had Cleveland State's best round on the final day of play, recording a 73 over the final 18 holes.

Women's Golf
-Cleveland State returns to action at the Shirley Spork Invitational this week, playing 36 holes on Monday, September 30 and 18 holes on Tuesday, October 1.
-Last time out the Vikings finished seventh at the Phoenix Invitational, shooting a school-record 290 in the second round of the tournament.
-Madison Butler carded a career-best round of 68 to lead the Vikings, while Meg Rossouw also shot a career-best round of 71.

Men's Tennis
-The Vikings will continue the fall campaign this weekend, with the team splitting up between the Purdue Fall Invitational and ITA All-American Championship.
-Senior Nico Mostardi was the lone Viking in action last weekend, competing at the Oracle ITA Masters for the second straight year.
-Mostardi advanced to the second round of both the singles draw and mixed doubles draw, earning a 7-5, 7-5 victory over No. 44 Sven Lah of Baylor in the singles bracket and teaming with Oakland's Ava Thielman for mixed doubles play.

Women's Tennis
-Cleveland State will host the fourth annual Viking Invitational this weekend (Friday, October 4-Sunday, October 6), welcoming Akron, UConn and Xavier to the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion.
-The Vikings opened their fall slate in Cancun, Mexico last week, participating in the Iberostar College Cup, with freshman Prinkle Singh posting a team-best 2-1 singles record, and the doubles team of Blanche Lenoan and Siân Payne recording a team-best 2-1 doubles record.

Fencing
- Cleveland State will be off from competition until hosting the CSU Duals October 26.
- The Vikings opened the 2019-20 season this past weekend by combining for nine wins at the OSU Duals as the men went 5-1 and the women were 4-2.
- The CSU men racked up 45 victories on the day, including claiming a 5-4 victory in the discipline over nationally ranked Ohio State.

Viking Basketball Showcase
-Cleveland State fans will have their first opportunity to see the men's and women's 2019-20 basketball teams on Saturday, October 5 beginning at 6:00 p.m. in Woodling Gymnasium. The event is free and open to the public.
-The Viking Basketball Showcase will feature player introductions, interviews with women's head coach Chris Kielsmeier and men's head coach Dennis Gates, skills competitions and team autographs.

Viking Of The Week
Nico Mostardi, Men's Tennis
The senior posted the highest ranked singles win in program history at the Oracle ITA Masters, earning a 7-5, 7-5 victory over No. 44 Sven Lah of Baylor to advance to the second round of the prestigious tournament. Mostardi also advanced to the second round of the Mixed Doubles Draw, teaming with Oakland's Ava Thielman to become the first Horizon League duo to earn a win at the Oracle ITA Masters.
