Kate Patton is in her fourth season as an assistant cross country coach at Cleveland State.

Patton was an assistant coach at St. Joseph Academy H.S. during the 2007 season, coaching the team to an 11th place finish at the OHSAA State Cross Country Meet. While at St. Joseph's, she provided weekly nutrition presentations with topics including meal timing, calcium, iron and hydration. She also counseled athletes on appropriate pre-and post-run meals and hydration, while also analyzing runners three day meal records to assess if they were meeting the estimated nutrition needs.

A 2006 graduate of the University of Dayton, Patton earned a Bachelor's of Science in Dietetics. She is currently completing coursework toward a Master's of Education in Exercise Science at CSU.

In addition, Patton is serving as a clinical dietitian at the Cleveland Clinic and is a member of the Left Ventricular Assist Device team. She completed a dietetic internship at the Clinic in 2006-07, working through a program that was comprised of 26 weeks of clinical, nine weeks of food service, four weeks of community and four weeks of sales and marketing.

Patton is a member of the American Dietetic Association, the Cleveland Dietetic Association and the Cleveland West Road Runners Club. A two-time qualifier and participant in the Boston Marathon, Patton has also competed in the Columbus and Georgia Marathons.

She was awarded the Elizabeth L. Shroeder Award of Excellence in 2006, which is presented the to Outstanding Senior in the Food and Nutrition Program at Dayton.
