Cleveland State Cross Country Competes At Tommy Titan Invite

NORTHVILLE, Mich. – The Cleveland State cross country team returned to action at the Tommy Titan Invite Saturday, with Hannah Korte and Ariana Coats both notching top-five finishes.

"Although this was a dual set with Detroit Mercy, it was a great opportunity for us to compete," head coach Jason Hudson said. "Hannah ran a great race and we had two key members of the team return to the lineup in Madelynn and Kiannah. We ran well as a pack with our 3-5 runners, we just need to continue working on the middle of the race as we continue on our way to the conference championships."

Korte posted a 5K time of 19:59 to place second overall, while Coats finished fifth with a time of 20:58.

The Viking trio of Kiannah Sarver, Madeline Crissman and Ana Crangle all recorded top-10 finishes, Sarver placing seventh (21:12), Crissman finishing eighth (21:22) and Crangle crossing the finish line in ninth place (21:36).

Madelynn Madison was the next Viking to cross the finish line, placing 11th (22:03), while Savannah Shaver (22:20), Emily Nemeth (22:33), Madeline Nacci (22:56), and Melanie Ortiz (25:13) also represented Cleveland State at the meet.

Cleveland State will return to action at the All-Ohio Championships next Friday (September 16), with the women's 6K race slated for a 6:00 p.m. start.
