Korte Paces Vikings At EIU Spring Open

CHARLESTON, Ill. – The Cleveland State cross country team finally returned to action Saturday, as they took to the course for the first time in 449 days as they participated in the Eastern Illinois Spring Open. 

Cleveland State had four runners compete on Saturday, paced by sophomore Hannah Korte who placed 17th overall with a 5K time of 19:45.

Freshman Savannah Shaver was the next Viking to cross the finish line, as she placed 31st overall with a time of 21:03. This marked Shaver's first cross country 5K of her collegiate career. 

Emily Nemeth and Zoe Lexovsky also competed for the Vikings on Saturday, Nemeth posting a 5K time of 21:30, and Lexovsky crossing the finish line in 23:44. 

With only four runners competing, the Vikings did not qualify for team scoring at the EIU Spring Open.
