Vikings Set For Disney Cross Country Classic

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State cross country team will participate in its final tune-up before the Horizon League Championship this weekend, traveling south to the state of Florida for the Disney Cross Country Classic. The women's 5K is slated for an 8:25 a.m. start at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Kissimmee, Florida.

The Field
Cleveland State will be part of a 20-team field at the Disney Cross Country Classic, joining two other teams from the state of Ohio – Cuyahoga Community College and Youngstown State.

Disney Cross Country Classic History
This will be the fourth time that Cleveland State will be making the trip to Florida for the Disney Cross Country Classic, also making the trip during the 2012, 2015 and 2017 seasons. Cleveland State's best finish at the Disney Cross Country Classic came during the 2017 campaign, as the Vikings finished second as a team, including a pair of individual top-10 finishers.

Last Time Out…
The Vikings participated in the All-Ohio Championship (September 28), led by Anna Brandt who placed 14th individually with a 6K time of 22:46. This marked the first of three 6K races of the year for the Vikings.

Cleveland State's Top-Three Finishers
Over the last two races, Cleveland State has had the same top three finishers, as Anna Brandt, Olivia Hammons and Hannah Korte have paced the Vikings. Korte, who is running in her rookie campaign, has been a top finisher for the Vikings during all three races, including the season opener when she posted a season-best 5K time of 19:41 at the Queen City Invitational.

2019 Cleveland State Cross Country Schedule
Saturday's race will mark the final 5K of the season for the Vikings, and the fourth race overall this year. Cleveland State will be returning to the cross country course following a two week hiatus from competition.
