NCAA Regional Up Next For Cross Country

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State cross country team will wrap up the 2018 season this weekend, traveling to Terre Haute, Ind. for the NCAA Great Lakes Regional. The women's 6K race is slated for an 11:15 a.m. start at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course.

Regional Field
Cleveland State will be one of 34 teams competing this weekend, and one of eight Horizon League teams. The Vikings will be represented by eight runners at the NCAA Regional meet, with Anna Brandt, Jessica Finley, Olivia Hammons, Heather McArdle, Lily Michael, Graicen Riley, Abbey Rojeck, and Kylie Scott set to compete.

Regional Results
The top two teams in each region will earn automatic bids to the NCAA Championship (18 total teams), while there will also be an additional 13 at-large team bids. In addition to the team qualifiers, there will also be 38 individuals selected to compete at the NCAA Championship – 36 will be automatic qualifiers from their respective regions (top four finishers not on a qualifying team) and two at-large selections.

Last Time Out…
The Vikings finished eighth at the Horizon League Championships, paced by sophomore Anna Brandt who finished third individually with a time of 21:43. Jessica Finley was the second Viking to cross the finish line, placing 27th overall, while Lily Michael (52nd) and Olivia Hammons (57th) also recorded top-60 finishes.

Brandt Named First Team All-Horizon League
After recording a third place finish at the Horizon League Championship, Anna Brandt was named to the All-Horizon League First Team. Brandt's third place finish marked the best individual finish in program history at the #HLXC Championship, while she also became the first Viking to be a two-time First Team honoree.

2018 Cross Country Schedule
Friday's race will mark the third 6K for the Vikings this season, and the sixth race on their six-meet slate.
