Cross Country Set For JennaStrong Fall Classic

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State cross country team will return to action this weekend, participating in the JennaStrong Fall Classic on Friday, October 12. The women's 5K is slated for 4:30 p.m. in Wilmington, Ohio.

JENNA STRONG FALL CLASSIC INFORMATION

LAST TIME OUT
Cleveland State finished 11th at the All-Ohio Championship, led by Anna Brandt who finished ninth individually, becoming the first Viking to place in the top-10 at the All-Ohio Championship. This race marked the first of three 6K races for the Vikings this season.

BRANDT SETS 6K PROGRAM RECORD
Last time out, sophomore Anna Brandt set a program record on the 6K course, as she finished the All-Ohio Championship in a time of 21:56. Brandt's time was 14 seconds faster than the previous record which was set by Karen Barrientos in 2016, and was the first sub 22-minute 6K time at Cleveland State. Brandt is now at the top of the 6K list at Cleveland State, while she ranks third on the 5K list.

MICHAEL CONTINUING TO HAVE STRONG FRESHMAN CAMPAIGN
Cleveland State freshman Lily Michael is continuing to have a standout rookie season, as she has been a top-four finisher for the Vikings in every race so far this season. Last time out, Michael finished her first collegiate 6K in a time of 23:44, which ranks in the top-50 on the CSU Top Times List.

JENNA STRONG FALL CLASSIC
The 2018 edition of the Jenna Strong Fall Classic – formerly called the Wilmington Fall Classic – will be the sixth honoring former Wilmington student-athlete Jenna Parlette, who tragically passed away in 2013. The race will support epilepsy awareness, something that Jenna worked tirelessly to support.

2018 CLEVELAND STATE CROSS COUNTRY SCHEDULE
Friday's 5K will mark the fourth race of the season for the Vikings, and the final tune-up before the Horizon League Championship later this month. Friday will also be the last 5K of the season, as the #HLXC Championship and NCAA Regional will take place on 6K courses.
