INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After pacing the Cleveland State cross country team at the Duquesne Duals last weekend, sophomore Anna Brandt has been named the Horizon League Runner of the Week. This marks the first weekly honor for Brandt, and just the third weekly accolade for the Vikings over the last four years.
In last weekend's season-opening meet, Brandt finished second overall with a 5K time of 18:30 and was the top Cleveland State finisher at the Duquesne Duals. This marked Brandt's third top-five individual finish of her collegiate career, and the first top-two finish.
Brandt's time of 18:30 is the fifth fastest 5K time in program history and was just shy of tying her career-best time of 18:25 that she set last year as a freshman. Through six 5K races as a Viking, Brandt has now recorded five sub 19-minute times.
Brandt and the Vikings will continue the 2018 season this Saturday (September 8), competing at the Tommy Evans Invitational in Norton, Ohio.
