Vikings Wrap Up 2017 Season At NCAA Regional

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Cleveland State cross country team wrapped up one of their most successful seasons in program history Friday, competing at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional.

Throughout the 2017 season, the Vikings notched four top-two team finishes, including a pair of titles at the Lock Haven Invitational and Jenna Strong Fall Classic. Cleveland State also tied the program record at the Horizon League Championship, bringing home a fourth team place finish with a pair of All-League runners.

"We had a good race today for our final race of the season, everyone gave it everything they had and went out on a high note," head coach Joe Jaketic said. "Getting the experience of running in an NCAA meet is awesome, and is definitely something that they will remember. Overall, we had the best season ever since I have been here, and it was such a joy to coach this group this season because everyone always gave it 100% effort. This group definitely has some things to be proud of when looking back on this season, and I am so proud of everything we accomplished."

Freshman Anna Brandt led the Vikings in Friday afternoon's regional race, posting a 6K time of 22:52 – a mark that tied her Horizon League Championship time and ranks 14th on the CSU Top Performances List.
