Jenna Strong Fall Classic Up Next For Cross Country

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State cross country team will participate in its final tune-up before the Horizon League Championship this week, competing in the Jenna Strong Fall Classic on Friday, October 13. Friday's 5K race is slated for a 4:30 p.m. start in Wilmington, Ohio.

Last Time Out
The Vikings brought home a second place team title from the Disney Cross Country Classic, finishing right behind first place FIU in the nine-team Division I field. This marked the third top-two finish for the Vikings this season, while they also picked up a pair of top-10 individual finishes for the fourth time this year. Karen Barrientos led the Vikings with a fifth place overall finish, while Anna Brandt crossed the finish line in seventh place.

Cleveland State's Top-Three
Through four 5K races this season, Cleveland State's top-three finishers – Karen Barrientos, Anna Brandt and Jessica Finley – have been averaging a 5K time of 18:54. This trio has posted 14 top-30 5K times on the CSU Top Performances List so far this season (including 5K splits), with Finley and Brandt both posting career-best 5K times throughout the year – Finley; 18:36 & Brandt; 18:27.

2017 Cleveland State Cross Country Schedule
Friday's Jenna Strong Fall Classic will be the final tune-up for the Vikings before the 2017 Horizon League Championship, and will be the final 5K race of the season for Cleveland State. Friday's race marks the seventh event for the Vikings this season, and the fifth 5K course.

Jenna Strong Fall Classic
The 2017 edition of the Jenna Strong Fall Classic – formerly called the Wilmington Fall Classic – will be the fifth honoring former Wilmington student-athlete Jenna Parlette, who tragically passed away in 2013. The race will support epilepsy awareness, something that Jenna worked tirelessly to support.
