CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State cross country team will compete in its first 6K of the season this weekend, taking part in the Lock Haven Invitational on Saturday, September 23. The women's 6K is slated for an 11:30 a.m. start at the West Branch Cross Country Course.

Cleveland State recorded its best team finish of the 2017 season, placing second at the Friendship Invitational. The Vikings were paced by the trio of Karen Barrientos, Anna Brandt and Jessica Finley, who all recorded top-10 individual finishes on the 5K course.
Brandt Among #HLXC Freshmen
After posting an 18:58 5K time at the Friendship Invitational last weekend, Anna Brandt became the first rookie in the Horizon League to record multiple 18-minute 5K times this season. Brandt, who is averaging an 18:50 5K this season, leads all freshmen and owns the fastest 5K time among her classmates (18:27 @ Tommy Evans Invitational). So far this season, all three of Brandt's times rank in the top-25 on the CSU Top Performances List, including her 18:27 that ranks second.
Cleveland State's Top-Three
For the first time under head coach Joe Jaketic, Cleveland State's top-three finishers are averaging a sub 19-minute 5K through the first three races of the season, as the trio of Karen Barrientos, Anna Brandt and Jessica Finley have been averaging a time of 18:55 following the first three 5K races. This trio of Barrientos, Brandt and Finley has been Cleveland State's top-three finishers during all three races, with all three of them recording at least one 18-minute 5K on the season.

Saturday's 6K will mark the first of four 6K's for the Vikings this season. Cleveland State will compete on 6K courses the next two weeks (LHU Invitational, All-Ohio Championship), and will then close out the season with back-to-back 6K races (Horizon League Championship, NCAA Regional).
