Cross Country Picks Up USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Honors

NEW ORLEANS, La. – For the ninth straight season the Cleveland State cross country team has been honored for its academic success from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, as the Vikings were named a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team earlier this spring.

"Year after year the team continues to put an emphasis on their work in the classroom and that is evident when you see honors like this," head coach Joe Jaketic said. "I am so proud of the entire team and all of their hard work that they put in not only on the cross country course, but also in the classroom."

As a team, the Vikings posted a cumulative GPA of 3.45 during the 2016 season and were one of seven Horizon League teams to earn All-Academic Team honors from the USTFCCCA.

To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five runners at their respective NCAA Regional Championship.
