Cross Country Announces Change To Weekend Schedule; Set For Storm Invitational

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Due to unfavorable weather conditions in the Southeastern part of the United States, the Cleveland State cross country team has had to change its race lineup for the upcoming weekend. The Vikings, who where supposed to run in the Disney Cross Country Classic this weekend, will now be competing at the Lake Erie Storm Invitational on Saturday, October 8.

2016 Storm Invitational
The Vikings were able to reschedule their race lineup for this weekend, securing a spot in the Storm Invitational field. The women's 6K race is slated for an 11:00 a.m. start on Saturday, October 8 at the Painesville Country Club in Painesville, Ohio.

Last Time Out
Last time out, the Vikings placed seventh among Division I teams at the All-Ohio Championship, as Karen Barrientos, Ashlyn Woods and Samantha Butterbaugh paced the squad. Barrientos finished 26th overall with a time of 22:39, while Woods was just shy of a top-50 finish, placing 52nd in 23:10.

Vikings On The Long Course
Saturday's race will mark the third of five 6K races for the Vikings this season, while it also marks the third straight week that Cleveland State will be participating in a 6K race. The Vikings are averaging a 6K time of 24:00 through the first two 6K races this season, while Karen Barrientos owns Cleveland State's fastest 6K time of the season (22:25 @ LHU Invitational).

Looking Forward To The Horizon League Championship
Cleveland State has just two more races before the 2016 Horizon League Championship, as this year's title race is slated for Saturday, October 29. This year's league championship will be hosted by Milwaukee and held at the Wayne Dannehl XC Course in Parkside, Wis.
