CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State cross country team will return to action this weekend, participating in the Friendship Invitational on Saturday, September 17. The women's 5K race is scheduled for a 10:15 a.m. start at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course in Cedarville, Ohio.
Over the first two races of the season, Cleveland State has had the same top-three finishers, as Karen Barrientos, Ashlyn Woods, and Olivia Hammons have finished one, two, three for the Vikings. All three have recorded top-50 finishes at both the Duquesne Duals and Detroit Titan Invitational.
BARRIENTOS RECORDS FASTEST DETROIT INVITE TIME FOR CSU
Last time out, Karen Barrientos finished 15th overall at the Detroit Titan Invitational, finishing in a time of 19:02. Barrientos' time of 19:02 marked the fastest time for a Cleveland State runner at the Detroit Titan Invitational over the last six seasons (since the Vikings began participating in the 5K race).
VIKINGS AT THE DEROIT TITAN INVITATIONAL
Last weekend the Vikings marked just the second time over the last six seasons that two Cleveland State runners posted times under 20-minutes at the Detroit Titan Invitational, as Karen Barrientos (19:02) and Ashlyn Woods (19:52) both posting sub 20-minute times. The last time Cleveland State had multiple runners with sub 20-minute times at the Detroit Titan Invitational was during the 2014 season, when three Vikings finishing in the 19-minute mark.
