CLEVELAND, Ohio– Following one of their best races in the past couple years, the Cleveland State cross country team will continue the 2012 season this Saturday (Sept. 22), as they compete at the Otterbein Invitational. Saturday's invite will take place on a 6K course, with the women's collegiate race starting at 11:00 a.m.
This will be the first time running on the Otterbein Cross Country course for the Vikings, and the first 6K of the season.
The Vikings are coming off their best race of the year at the Friendship Invitational, as seven runners recorded personal-best times and all 10 Vikings improved their times from the previous week. For the first time this season Cleveland State had two runners post sub 20-minute 5k times, as Tori Holt crossed the finish line in 19:18 and Ashley Lydic finished in 19:54.
Holt's career-best time landed her on the award stand at the Friendship Invite, while it also marked the 14th fastest 5K at CSU since 2005 when Joe Jaketic became head coach. Lydic's sub 20-minute 5K marked the first of her career, and also made the top 5K performance list at CSU.
